Biography

Pariyoush Ganji (June, 30th 1945) Iranian contemporary painter Childhood and Education She was born in Tabriz in a family that has moved from Russian Azerbaijan to Iran. Her father was the master of designing and was one of the pioneers of textile printing. The family moved to Tehran in 1948. Pari Yoush was acclaimed in school for her artistic works and was sent to art school. In 1966 she completed the course of art training under the mastership of great artist like Reza Foroozi, Mahmood Farshchiyan and left Iran for England to follow her training in London and she became familiar with the art circles. At her arrival to England, Pari first went to the St. Martin Faculty of Fine Arts and Sir John Cass Faculty and then in 1970 she followed her complementary training in the Chelsea Art Faculty (Homer Smith). In 1974 she was graduated from that university in the field of cloth designing and then for a while she attended in the classes of Beaux-Arts Faculty of Fine Arts in Paris Professional Activities After graduating from university as a bachelor and before departure to Paris she was employed in a German manufacturing carpet weaving company and passed a short but successful course, then she came back to Iran to teach designing in various centers as follows: • Iran Heritage center, 1991 • Alzahra University (designing and cloth printing) from 1985 up to the present time • Islamic Azad University (designing) from 1988 to 1996 • University of Art (designing and cloth printing) from 1995 up to the present time She is the first Iranian artist who has received a scholarship from UNESCO for comparative research to study the influence of Persian designs – especially the Sassanid designs – on Japanese Kimonos.
