Biography
Dariush Moaddabian (born 1950 in Tehran) is an Iranian cinema and theater actor, director, screenwriter, and translator. Moaddabian began his artistic career with television theater in 1343, starting with “Zahak Mardoush.” He started collaborating with the press in 1348 and went on to translate many plays by famous world writers. He graduated in acting and directing theater from the Tehran Drama School in 1353. He received a master’s degree in performing arts studies from Sorbonne University in Paris in 1359 and a master’s degree in linguistics from the Paris Institute of Humanities Studies in 1360. His first cinematic activity was as one of the screenwriters for the film “The Dusty Ones” in 1357.
Life and Career:
Dariush Moaddabian was born in Tehran and completed his primary and secondary education at Jam School. He began his artistic career with television theater in 1343 with “Zahak Mardoush.” He started collaborating with the press in 1348 and translated many plays by famous world writers.
He graduated in acting and directing theater from the Tehran Drama School in 1353. He received a master’s degree in performing arts studies from Sorbonne University in Paris in 1359 and a master’s degree in linguistics from the Paris Institute of Humanities Studies in 1360. His first cinematic activity was as one of the screenwriters for the film “The Dusty Ones” in 1357.
After returning from France, Moaddabian resumed his collaboration with television in 1361, and since 1363, he has been teaching at the University of the Arts, Allameh Tabatabai University, and the University of Radio and Television.
Translator:
Dariush Moaddabian has translated numerous plays from French to Persian. He is the compiler and translator of selected works of world humorists, of which 35 volumes have been published.
Return to Theater Stage:
In 1387, after 19 years, Moaddabian returned to the theater stage with the play “Trees,” directed by Mehrdad Kouroshnia. The last time he appeared on stage was in 1368 in the play “Embassy” (by Mrozek), directed by Forough Kaviani.
