Biography
Fakhreddini, Farhad (March 11,1937) Iranian music composer and orchestra conductor Childhood He was born in the ex-Azerbaijan Soviet Russia but after two months of his birth, his family moved to Iran. his father, Mohammad Ali Fakhreddini was a veteran photographer and wrote poems under the pen name of “Mahzoon” (grievous), his poems have been collected in two volumes. His mother, Banoo Asli Fakhreddini, was a housekeeper and a lover of art. The names of Farhad sisters are Yaman, Touran, and Raheleh and all his three brothers are artists. His older brother is a painter and photographer and his second brother, Farrokh, is a celebrated photographer and Farooq, his younger brother is also a professional photographer and along with his job, as a sportsman, he was the head coach of Iran Volleyball National Team. Educations He passed the primary course in the Tofiq and Alameh schools and when he was 14 he started to play the violin. He followed his secondary course in Alameh Mohammad Qazvini and Darolfnoon high schools and his academic course in the supreme conservatory of music within the years of 1960 to 1965. His trainers in this period were as follows: • Violin: Ahmad Mohajer, Abol Hassan and Ali Tajvidi • Harmony and Arabian Music analyzing: Immanuel Malik Aslaniyan • Harmony and Iranian Music analysis: Dr. Mehdi Barkeshli His other masters in this supreme course were Dr. Mehdi Forough, Dr. Khachik, and Dr. Raven Hakopiyan Professional Activities In 1963 while he was studying in the supreme course, with the request of Mr. Hossein Dehlavi, the head of the music conservatory, started to teach the students, and also he was asked to manage the library as well as the sound house and the artistic program of the conservatory. Fakhreddini successfully undertook these responsibilities and showed his ability to in managing the affairs. Then he became one of the members of the technical council of the conservatory and later he joined the managing board of the Art College of National Music. Fakhreddini in 1963 started his cooperation with Iran Radio as the player of violin and alto violin in the orchestra of Golha and Barbad. By the merging of all the orchestras of Radio and the formation of great orchestra of Iran National Radio and Television, Fakhreddini along with playing in the new orchestra started to work in the field of music composing and conducting the orchestra and from 1973 he formally appointed as the conductor of the newly established orchestra. He kept his cooperation up to 1979 and in that year by his own request he withdrew from this position. Fakhreddin at the present time is one of the members of the Supreme Council of the Iran House of Music. Positions and Jobs 1. From 1963 started to teach in the Supreme Music Conservatory 2. From 1971 started to teach in the Art College of National Music 3. From 1973 to 1979 he conducted the great orchestra of Iran National Radio and Television 4. From 1990 started to teach in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University 5. From 1991 started to teach in the Music Faculty of Azad University 6. He founded the Iran National Orchestra in 1998 and conducted it up to 2009 7. From 2015 he undertook the conduction to Iran National orchestra 8. He was the Supervisor of the General Office of Art Activities Achievements Farhad Fakhreddini 1998 founded the Iran National Orchestra and conducted it for eleven years. He also has implemented some researches in the field of Iranian Ancient Music. He has said about decoding one of the songs of Abdolqader Maraghi, the great Iranian poet and musician of the 16th century: “Abdolqader possesses a melody who has recorded it in two books of Maqased-ol-Alhan and Jame-ol-Alhan in a special Alphabet which is called Abjad and up to now many Iranian and foreign types of research have worked on it, but none of them could adapt the poet and melody of this piece. I was enough lucky to decode this riddle after 30 years working on it.” He has benefited from the composition of Maraghehie to make the music titration of the Imam Ali series. He also by the request of his master Dr. Mehdi Barkeshli for the first time after six months effort harmonized the Khorasan tambour according to Abu Nasr Farabi who has instructed how to arrange the length of the string of tambour.
