Lilith Trianzadeh, born on December 31, 1930 in Tehran, is a famous Iranian-Armenian sculptor known as the mother of Iranian sculpture. Lilith Trian was born in a rare neighborhood of Tehran in an art-loving family. His father was a high-ranking employee of the National Bank of Iran and attached great importance to the beauty of the building and architecture. His mother had studied art in France for some time and left school due to problems and returned to Iran. Therefore, following her mother, Lilith became acquainted with drawing and painting, and after graduating from high school, she participated in the entrance exam for the Faculty of Fine Arts. He studied painting at the University of Tehran for a year, and then in 1331 he went to the National Higher University of Fine Arts in Paris to complete his higher education. In the process of preparing for the entrance exam for the National University of Fine Arts in Paris, he became interested in sculpture and studied sculpture for four years at this university, and returned to Iran in 1339 (1960) after graduating. From the year he returned to Iran until 1980, he taught at the Faculty of Decorative Arts with a wealth of experience he had gained. After the revolution, he created his works a few years away from the university environment. Finally, in 1992, she was invited to teach design and sculpture at the Islamic Azad University, and this activity of Lady Trian continued until 1999. Lilith Trian has participated in several exhibitions since 1989, including the Islamic Azad University professors’ exhibition in 1373. The statue of Ypermankhan, which is now located in the grounds of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is one of his outstanding works. The 35-minute semi-long documentary “Lady” directed by Mohammad Safa is a documentary about the life of Ms. Trian, the first Iranian sculptor, at the Center for the Development of Documentary and Experimental Cinema. “I’m influenced by seemingly insignificant events and start making sculptures,” says Lilith Trian. For example, I started the sculpture (mother and child) that I made with plaster, under the influence of the birth of a baby in our family. The baby’s mother always held him in her arms, and seeing these moments made me feel like making this statue.
