Biography

Esmail Shangaleh (born on June 3, 1936) director and actor of theater, cinema, and television Childhood and Education He was born in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, when he was very young he lost his father. He attended Iqbal primary school and then followed his education in Naser Khosrow, Iqbal, Darolfonoon, and Roshdieh secondary schools. He started his theatrical activities in 1953 with membership in the theatrical institution of Jameeh Barbad. In 1956 he attended the art school of acting and along with experimental acting, he studied art academically too. After a while, he learned the German Language to follow his studies and after immigration, he received his diploma from the Academy of Theatrical Arts of Vienna. Professional Activities Esmail Shangoleh in 1956 was employed by the Melli Bank and worked there for a while, but he left his job and again started to study the principle of acting. After being graduated from the art school he was employed by the office of Dramatic Arts affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 1969 after completing his studies in Austria he returned to Iran and followed his job in the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, but after a while, he left the faculty to join the organization of Iran Melli Radio and Television. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, he kept on his activities in theater, cinema, and television. Private Life Esmail Shangoleh in 1978 a few days before the victory of the Revolution married Laleh Poorghadiri. The fruit of this marriage is two daughters who are called Leyla and Rãna and a son named Ramin.
