Katouzian, Kamran (born 1941), Iranian eminent painter Childhood He was born in Tehran in 1941. From childhood, he showed a special interest in painting. After finishing the course of high school, he left Iran for USA to follow his studies and by the advice of one of his professors he started to study in Wyndham University in Vermont state and in 1961 he was graduated from that university in the field of painting and sculpturing. Professional Activities Katoozian returned to Iran in 1963 and was employed by the Ministry of Culture and Art. In that ministry he became acquainted with Changiz Shahvaq and Naser Mofakham and with their assistance he founded the Saba Gallery in 1964. In 1965 by the advice and encouragement of Mr. Seyhoon he entered the branch of architecture in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University without participating in entering examination, but after two years he forsook the university in midway and this point he was invited to cooperate with the Behshahr Industrial Group as the propaganda manager. After a while in 1971 he also established the Avant-garde propaganda office. But by the victory of the Revolution, the activities of his office were elapsed and he left Iran for a while. Then he returned to Iran and with the partnership of Mrs. Radpay, he established the Advertising Company of Karpay. Kamran Katoozian used to introduce himself, as an abstract painter. In his precedents, he has recorded teaching Graphic in the Faculty of Decorative Arts (1969-1971) and Azad University (1990-92) His Most Outstanding Achievements • Winner of the 4th Tehran Biennale with presenting an abstract painting in the name of “When my Father’s father was Young” and an abstract statue of Iran in 1964 • Participating in Paris Biennale, 1965 • Participating in Venice Biennale, 1966 • Participating in Washington International Art Festival, 1977 • Participating in individual exhibition of Karte Callery, 1989 • Participating in individual exhibition of Mah-o-Mehr Gallery, 2009
