Biography

Amir Massood Anooshfar, born in 1952 in Tehran, is an acclaimed Iranian architect, urban planner, and designer, known for his innovative and lasting contributions to architecture and urban design. He completed his high school education at Alborz High School under the guidance of Principal Mohammad Ali Mojtahedi and later pursued architecture at Shahid Beheshti University. Anooshfar also obtained a diploma in architecture from the University of Belleville and completed a specialized program in land use and urban planning at the Sorbonne University.

Anooshfar spent many years working in France, contributing to multiple significant projects, including the revitalization of garden cities around Paris with the CGT group in 1990. In 2011, he returned to Iran at the invitation of the Tehran Beautification Organization, where he currently serves as a consultant for both the Beautification Organization and the Cultural Heritage and Handicrafts Organization.

Amir Massood Anooshfar’s father, Rahim Anooshfar, was a pioneer in Iranian photography and filmmaking and owned the Anoshfar Studio, influencing Anooshfar’s passion for the arts. Alongside architecture, Anooshfar is also a dedicated photographer, using this art form to document and highlight the artistic aspects of his works. His approach emphasizes the integration of art with architecture, cultural heritage preservation, and the creation of urban spaces that embody local cultural values.

 

Some of his key projects include:

  • 1995: First place in the design competition for Azadi Cinema in Tehran
  • 1998: First place in the design for the Congress Palace in Algeria, alongside SHCA
  • 2000 to 2010: Collaborations with prominent groups including L’Or, Hermès, Natixis, and Heineken
  • 2011: Initiation of the restoration project for Ameri Boutique Hotel in Kashan
  • 2012: Drafting urban landscape guidelines and organizing cityscape elements
  • 2013: Revitalizing Naser Khosrow Street in Tehran, organizing the Beheshti Street pedestrian walkway in Karaj, and designing the beautification master plan for Saveh Industrial City
  • 2014: Establishing the Ivan Architectural Studies Center and restoring the Simin and Jalal House
  • 2015: Research and studies on the Enqelab Street corridor in Tehran, restoring valuable historical facades and buildings along the route
  • 2018: Designing Iranian-style urban furniture and interior architecture for “The Iranian House,” a project recognized by the Aga Khan Award for its revitalization of Enqelab Street
