Biography

Mohammad Baghaei (Makan), born on March 11, 1945, is an Iranian writer, translator, professor of Persian literature, and one of the most prominent scholars on the philosophy and works of Iqbal Lahori, the renowned Pakistani poet and philosopher. He holds a degree in Persian Language and Literature from the University of Tehran and an advanced diploma in English from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Baghaei began his cultural activities in the mid-1960s by publishing articles in Tehran’s press. In 1974, he joined the National Radio and Television of Iran as a writer and host for cultural programs, such as Culture and Society and Time and Perspective. After the 1979 Revolution, he dedicated himself to writing and translating.

Professional Contributions

Baghaei has authored over 81 books, including 35 volumes and 10,000 pages dedicated to Iqbal Lahori, earning him the highest cultural award of Pakistan in 2005 from President Pervez Musharraf. The Iqbal Academy Pakistan recognizes him as the only Iranian scholar with the most extensive research and publications on Iqbal’s thoughts.

In addition to his work on Iqbal, Baghaei has translated ten novels by the renowned German author Hermann Hesse and authored a ten-volume series titled Famous Figures of Western Philosophy.
