Biography

Behrooz Azabdaftari, born in 1938 in Tabriz, Iran, is a distinguished Iranian academic and professor specializing in English language and literature. With a remarkable career in teaching, research, and authorship, he has made significant contributions to English language education and related fields in Iran.

Personal Life

Behrooz Azabdaftari was born in Tabriz, where he completed his primary education at 15 Bahman Elementary School and his secondary education at Loghman High School. His father was an employee of the Finance Department. From an early age, Azabdaftari showed a keen interest in learning, which led him to pursue advanced academic studies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Educational Sciences from Tehran’s Teachers College (Daneshsara-ye Ali).
  • Intensive language training program at Georgetown University, Washington, USA (1966).
  • Master’s degree in English Language from the University of Beirut (1970).
  • Ph.D. in English Language from the University of Illinois, USA.

Professional Career

Azabdaftari began his academic career in 1970 as an assistant professor at the University of Tabriz and later advanced to the rank of associate professor at the Faculty of Persian Literature and Foreign Languages at the same university. He has also served as a faculty member at the Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch, and was a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Research in English Language Teaching. Additionally, he has supervised three master’s and doctoral dissertations.
