Fahima Akbar, with the maiden name of Fahima Yamin Esfandiari (Azer 1996 – 12 Shahrivar 1388), was a singer and writer of Gilanology and a social activist. He was the son of Asadullah Yamin Esfandiari, who was one of the politicians of the Pahlavi period, and because his father was the consul general, he spent his childhood years in Baku (the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which was part of the Soviet Union at that time). Fahima’s musical talent was discovered in Baku, and after returning to Iran, she continued her musical career and became a student of Morteza Khan Mahjoubi for a while. He sang in the style of European chansons and knew how to sing in several languages. In 1317, Fahima married Mohsen Akbar and adopted her husband’s last name. Fahima and Mohsen Akbar settled in Gilan, where Fahima researched Gilak culture. He wrote the first book about Gilan cuisine and began to sing Gilaki songs. Fahima was also active in the social activities of the NGO. After the 1357 Iranian revolution, Fahima and Mohsen moved to the United States of America with their three children.
