Biography

Asadzadeh, Dariush (born 23 Nov. 1923, demised 24th August 2020), the actor of theater, cinema, and Iran National T.V. Childhood and Educations Since his father was a personnel of the Iran Army and he was missioned to the various districts of Iran, he was born in Kermanshah and lived there up to five years old and then returned to Tehran with his family. He passed the primary course in Taraqqi school and the second course in Dar-ol-fonoon high school and then he entered the Faculty of Business and Financial Affairs. From the very childhood, he liked to see theater and showed a great interest in art and music. While he was studying in university, far from his father’s eye, he entered into the first course of the conservatory of acting. When he was in the USA he followed some researches in the university and passed the courses that later Tehran University accepted his certification equal to Ph.D. in the field of the art literature. Professional activities Asadzadeh was employed by the Ministry of Finance in 1944. When he was young, used to play piano, but his father opposed him and inevitably he left aside playing. In 1942 he started acting and writing plays in Lalehzar theaters and in the same year he stepped in the scene to play a role in the comedy of Leyli and Majnoon which was written and directed by Moez Divan Fekri. Then after in 1949, he appeared in cinema with the movie of “Bothersome Spouse”. In 1956 he was sent to France to attend the greatest International Theater Festival by the Iran General Office of Fine Arts and for three months he studied the various aspects of theater in Paris. By coming back to Iran he was invited to work in the National Radio and performed a great number of roles in the various radio plays. In 1967 he was invited to cooperate with one of the American film producers who praised his performances in Iran. In the USA he played in the film under the name of “It Happened in America” by the directorship of Qaem Maqam. In 1969 he requested to be retired from the Ministry of Finance due to his artistic activities and left that Ministry forever and devoted all his time to the job that he liked heartedly. In 1912 he was accepted as a member of the managing board of Iran Cinema Syndicate and in 1976 to study theater affairs he left Iran for the USA with his family and stayed there for 10 years. By coming back to Iran and playing in the film “Garden Sage” he returned to the arena of cinema and by playing in the Samandoon series in 1995 he joined the IRIB too. But his fame mostly is indebted to his appearance in the series of “Green House”. Asadzadeh in 2000 and 2001 was assigned as the head of the Iran Actors Association. He also was a member of the board of Judges of Iran Cinema House. I 2006 Ibrahim Shafie made the documentary film under the title of “Life and Nothing Else” on the basis of the real-life of Asadzadeh to commemorate his seventy years’ effort in the arena of cinema. Personal Life When he was 27 he married Homa Shahrokhi one of the granddaughters of the Qajar dynasty, but after 17 years he separated from her, then he separated from Soheyla Ghazali, his second wife too and married again at age of 76, with Tahereh Khatoon Mirzaie.
