Biography

Abdolhossein Azarang, writer, researcher, educator, and editor was born in 1325 in Kermanshah. He graduated from the Faculty of Literature of the University of Isfahan with a bachelor’s degree and also completed a master’s degree in the Faculty of Educational Sciences. His other endeavors include taking doctoral courses in the United Kingdom and Iran, and taking creative writing courses in the United States. Azarang’s main field of personal research is the theoretical issues of publishing and books and their relationship, especially with topics of science and communication, the field of research related to the tasks of encyclopedia and contemporary history of Iran in the fourteenth century (1300 onwards). Azarang’s work history begins with editing and editing at the Franklin Institute (1351-1355). After that, he was a member of the faculty in the Institute of Scientific and Educational Research and Planning (1355-1361), a consultant in the Asian Cultural Documentation Center (1354-1358), a scientific member of the Encyclopedia of the Islamic World (1363-1381). Responsibilities of the director of the compilation and translation department, the director of the editing department, scientific advisor and member of the scientific council, author, translator, editor of articles, and lecturer of encyclopedia articles and translation of encyclopedic articles in this encyclopedia. From 1987 to 1991, he was the director of the bibliography department and the publishing department of the Cultural Research Office, and from 1991 to 2002, he was a lecturer on the history of civilization and the history of science and publishing at the Azad University. Adviser in the fields of culture, education, and research in the Program and Budget Organization, Technical and Vocational Education Council, Tehran Municipality, Iranian lead, zinc, and steel companies from 1361 to 1381 has been one of the activities of Abdolhossein Azarang. He has also been a lecturer on theoretical issues of publishing and structural-content editing at the University Publishing Center, the Publishers’ Union, and some other centers. This activity started in 1999 and continues today. Scientific member of Iran Encyclopedia since 2002 and director of the New Concepts section has been another effort of this author, translator, and editor, which is still ongoing. Azarang still works as a writer, translator, editor, educator, and consultant on some encyclopedias. Azarang’s translated works include -History and Philosophy of Science (Holsey Hall), History of Science (Dempierre), Development of New Science (Westphalia), History of Civilization (two volumes, Lucas), History of Civilization and World Culture (4c, group of authors ), History of Western Philosophy and History of Contemporary Philosophy from My Teachers to Sartre. Abdolhossein Azarang has also translated or authored many other books and articles, including several hundred articles in various fields as well as a large number of encyclopedia articles. Editing more than 100 books and more than 1000 articles is another effort of this cultural researcher.
