Biography

Rakhshan Banietemad (born 3rd of April, 1954) Iranian contemporary director, scenarist, and producer Educations She was graduated from Tehran Dramatic Arts (Faculty of Cinema and Theater of Art University) in the field of cinema directorship in 1980 Professional Activities In 1974 She started her job as the secretary of the stage in Iran National T.V. and up to 1980, she directed some short documentary films. From 1981 she worked as stage secretary for the films of Sunny Abiders (Aftab Neshinha) and Chrysanthemum Flowers (Golhayeh-e-Davoodi) and from 1987 she ardently followed this process to directorship the movies for cinema. She also experimented with her talent in the field of screen scripting and produced impressive and contemplative films in Iran and the world cinema which was awarded many prizes Banietemad after receiving the special award of the board of judges of the Asia Pacific Festival announced she plans to sell her award in an auction to establish an asylum for the homeless women of Tehran Private Life She married Jahangir Kosari, a cinema producer and sports interpreter and the fruit of this marriage is two offspring: Tandis and Baran.
