Biography
Zahra Gooya is recognized as the most prominent figure in mathematics education in Iran. She was born on January 22, 1955, in Malayer but is originally from Kermanshah, where she returned three months after her birth and completed her high school education, obtaining a diploma in mathematics. In 1977, she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics in Boston, USA, and her master’s degree in mathematics education in 1988 in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Gooya later obtained her Ph.D. in mathematics education (curriculum planning) in 1992, also in Vancouver, Canada. Currently, she is a professor at the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences at Shahid Beheshti University and has been the editor-in-chief of the Mathematics Education* journal since 1996.
