Biography

Hassan Zahedi (born September 30, 1946 / 8 Mehr 1325 in Tehran) is an Iranian production sound mixer, sound recordist, re-recording mixer, and actor. He is regarded as one of the experienced and influential sound professionals in Iranian cinema, having contributed to many landmark films over several decades. His name is closely associated with important works such as Close-Up, The Tenant, The Familiar Soil, and About Elly.

Early Life and Education

Hassan Zahedi was born on September 30, 1946, in Tehran, Iran. His interest in professional audio began with specialized training in sound engineering, which he pursued through a technical sound course at the IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) Faculty of Media.

He later continued his academic path abroad and earned a degree in Sound and Electronics from Plymouth College in the United Kingdom. This strong combination of technical knowledge and hands-on training laid the groundwork for his long and impactful career in film sound.

Over the course of several decades, Hassan Zahedi has worked in various branches of cinematic sound production, including sound recording, location sound, re-recording mixing, and occasionally acting.   • On August 20, 2019, during the 21st Annual Iran Cinema Celebration (House of Cinema), a special tribute ceremony was held in honor of Hassan Zahedi alongside three other veteran artists at the Ivan Shams Hall in Tehran.

This tribute reflects the high regard in which his decades of artistic and technical contributions are held.
