Biography

Kamal Mosaffa Tabrizi, born on September 27, 1959, in Tehran, is a prominent Iranian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is one of the influential filmmakers of post-revolutionary Iranian cinema.

Education and Early Career

Kamal Tabrizi graduated in Cinema and Television from the University of Art in Tehran. He began his artistic journey in 1979 with Tehran’s Free Cinema movement and served as the head of the Education Department at the Islamic Center for Film Training between 1980 and 1983.

Tabrizi also participated as a photographer and cinematographer during the U.S. Embassy hostage crisis in Iran. His cinematic career began in 1985 as the cinematographer for Illusion by Saeed Hajimirzaei. He later worked as a consultant on Identity, directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia.

Tabrizi has worked in various aspects of filmmaking, including editing, production, costume and set design, cinematography, screenwriting, and directing.
