Iraj Parsinejad Information

Iraj Parsinejad is a professor of Persian literature at Japanese and American universities and a historian of modern literary criticism in Iran. Parsinejad was born in 1317 in Abadan. He started writing with great diligence from high school and from the very beginning he had a tendency towards literary criticism. It was a wall newspaper and Iraj Parsinejad collaborated with it. After graduating from high school in his hometown, he came to Tehran to continue his studies in literature and succeeded in obtaining a master’s degree in linguistics from the University of Tehran. He went to England. He went to the University of Oxford to study comparative literature. About “Weiss and Ramin” as an old Iranian story and comparison of similar examples in European literature. This was suggested to me by my tutor, Professor George Morrison, who himself had translated Weiss and Ramin into English. During these years, his teaching aids were provided at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Based on this, he left for Japan and taught comparative literature and Iranian literature at this university for 17 years. After retiring, he moved to the United States to teach “A Review of Classical Persian Literature” in English at UCLA. During these years, Iraj Parsinejad, in addition to teaching continuously, has not neglected to write numerous articles in the field of literature and linguistics in specialized literature journals and has also maintained his continuous relationship with academic centers, specialized journals, and his colleagues in the field of literature in Iran. He comes to Iran from time to time for research work. During these years, in addition to maintaining its links with the current of literary criticism in Iran, Parsinejad has not neglected to study and critique the situation of classical Iranian literature outside Iran and has also criticized them.
