Ahmad Pouri Information

Ahmad Pouri was born in one of the old neighborhoods of Tabriz and after finishing high school, he published his first stories in some literary magazines of the time. After spending his high school years, he intends to become a teacher in the “Educational Middle School” and spends two years of his life as a teacher in the villages around Tabriz. Puri traveled to Scotland in 1977 to continue his studies and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Scotland. He also received his master’s degree from the University of Newcastle in the United Kingdom. He continues his literature by translating the romantic literature poems of the world’s great poets. To date, he has translated the works of poets such as Anna Akhmatova, Pablo Neruda, Federico Garcia Lorca, Nazim Hekmat, Nizar Ghobani, Yannis Ritsos and Anne Sexton. He has also translated a novel by Mikhail Bulgakov and several other collections of stories. “Two Steps Inver Line”, the first novel written by Ahmad Pouri, was published by Cheshmeh Publishing in 2008 and was well received by the audience. Some critics have considered this novel as a new chapter in Iranian fiction. Also, the novel “Only Ten Hours” written by Ahmad Pouri was published in 1397 by Cheshmeh Publishing.
