Fereydun Shahbazian

Biography

Fereydon Shahbazian was born on the 21st of June 1942 in Fakhr Razi St., Tehran University neighborhood. With the encouragement and guidance of his father, Hossein Shahbazian, he became interested in music and started studying music and learning the violin instrument at the High Music Conservatory. His first violin teacher was Attaullah Khadem Mithaq, who after a while introduced him to his Russian teacher, Serge Khotsev. He studied with Khotsif until the end of elementary school. After that, he continued learning the violin until obtaining a diploma in playing this instrument, in the evening classes of “Luigi Passanari”, who was the concertmaster of the Tehran Symphony Orchestra at that time. At the age of 17, he became a member of the Tehran Symphony Orchestra led by Heshmat Senjari, after which he started working with the Radio Flowers Orchestra. At that time, the flower orchestra was led by Ruhollah Khaleghi and after him by Javad Maroufi. In 1345, he became the leader of the radio symphony orchestra and choir. He is a graduate of Tehran University Faculty of Fine Arts. Shahbazian also started composing for movies in the 60s. Together with Ali Moalem Damghani, he formed the Music Council in Sada Vasima, which was responsible for monitoring and supporting pop music. He is now a retired broadcaster and one of Iran’s pop music critics. Fereydun Shahbazian was the conductor of the National Orchestra of Iran from October 2015 to April 2018. After resigning from the artistic management and permanent leadership of the National Orchestra of Iran, Shahbazian was appointed as a music consultant of the Rudaki Foundation, and he resigned from this position on May 31, 2018. Hossein Shahbazian was the father of Fereydon Shahbazian, a violinist, conductor and one of Abolhasan Saba’s students. His wife, Mahoor Moosaian, is one of the cinematographers of Iran. In November 2018, the unveiling ceremony of the music album “When I came back” by Fereydon Shahbazian was held at the Charso cinema campus. In April 1400, Fereydon Shahbazian suffered a bone fracture in his right hand and hip while recording the music of Yavar TV series. After being transferred to the hospital, despite the need for immediate hip surgery due to the necessity of preparing the music for the series for broadcast, despite the insistence of the “Yavar” series agents, he refused to be hospitalized and undergo surgery, and after preparing the music for 5 episodes of the series, he Surgery was performed on him.
