Biography

Dr. Shahin Rouhani (born 28 April 1957) is an Iranian theoretical physicist, Professor of Physics at Sharif University of Technology, and Research Professor at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM). He is internationally recognized as one of the pioneering contributors to Conformal Field Theory (CFT) and Logarithmic Conformal Field Theory (LCFT). His research spans theoretical physics, statistical physics, complex systems, neural networks, and computational modeling of neuronal activity.

Since returning to Iran in 1989, Dr. Rouhani has played a major role in advancing theoretical physics research and educating several generations of physicists.

Education

After graduating from Kharazmi High School, Dr. Rouhani moved to the United Kingdom at the age of fifteen to pursue higher education.

Activities and Works

Dr. Rouhani joined the faculty of Sharif University of Technology in 1989, where he has served as a professor of physics for more than three decades.

Since 1993, he has also been affiliated with the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM), serving in several academic capacities, including member of the Scientific Council, Scientific Committee of the Complexity Program, and Research Professor at the School of Cognitive Sciences.

His principal research interests include:

Dr. Rouhani has authored and co-authored numerous papers published in leading international journals. His research covers conformal field theories, flat-space holography, universality in growth models, complex systems, and contributions to the CMS Collaboration at CERN.
