Biography

Zandi, Maryam (born Gorgan, January 9, 1946) Iranian contemporary photographer Educations She is graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Tehran University As a Photographer She started her artistic works in 1969 and in the same year she was awarded the first prize of the cross-country photography competition from the Ministry of Culture and Art She was employed as a photographer by Iran National Radio and Television in 1971 and in 1983 when National T.V. turned to the Islamic Republic Iran Broadcasting she appealed to leave her job and against receiving a sum for the years of her services she left the T.V. organization forever and then she started her activities as an independent photographer. Within 35 years she has provided an excellent and unique archive of the portraits of people of art and politics and has published some of these portraits in 5 volumes under the title of “Features” Heretofore she has published 14 books in the field of photography. She is one of the founding members and the first head of the Iran National Association of Photographers and is the honorary member of the Photography Association of the Iran Cultural Heritage. In 2010 she was known as an influential and policymaker photographer by the independent “Shid” Festival for publishing the book Revolution 57 (1978).
