Majid Tehranian

Biography

Majid Tehranian (born 1937 according to Iranian sources, Mashhad – 4 January 2013 Iranian calendar: 4 Dey 1391) was an Iranian political economist, communication scholar, peace researcher, and professor internationally recognized for his contributions to global communication, development studies, peace research, globalization, and dialogue among civilizations. He served as Professor and Director of International Communication at the University of Hawaiʻi, Founding Director of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research, and was a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science.

Following the completion of his doctoral studies, Tehranian taught at several American universities for seven years before returning to Iran in 1971. In 1978, he was also a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford.
