Biography

Majdoddin Keyvani is a prominent Iranian translator, author, and linguist, born on February 1, 1938, in Isfahan. He is recognized as one of the influential figures in linguistics, literature, and translation in Iran, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge and culture through his works.

 Early Life and Education

Keyvani earned his bachelor’s degree in Persian literature from Tarbiat Moallem University (formerly Daneshsaray-e Aali) in June 1961. He pursued further education in the United Kingdom, where he obtained a diploma in bilingual education in 1965 and a Ph.D. in applied linguistics from the University of Wales in 1968.

– Member of the Supreme Scientific Council at the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia since its establishment 

– President of the Higher Education Institute in Zahedan (1974–1978) 

– Member of the Language Curriculum Planning Committee, Supreme Cultural Revolution Council (1982–1983) 

– Professor and faculty member at Tarbiat Moallem University 

– Editor-in-chief of the biannual journal Ayeneh Mirath (since 2013) 

– Associate member of the Encyclopaedia Iranica project
