Biography

Manouchehr Moatbar (born 1936) Iranian contemporary painter Childhood and Education He was born in Shiraz, Passed the courses of primary and high school in his birthplace. During these years he became familiar with a painting by Naser Namazi one of the apprentices of Kamal-ol-Molk, the great Iranian contemporary artist. In 1956 he entered the faculty of Literature and Human Science of Shiraz University and started to study in the field of English Language and Literature but his attachment to painting, urged him to leave this branch after passing in the entering examination of Tehran University, he left Shiraz for Tehran to study in the Faculty of Fine Arts in the field of painting. In 1971 after graduating from university he went USA to follow his studies. He passed three courses of designing in the Association of New York Conservatory and started to study at the postgraduate level in the field of Art Teaching at Indiana University but he left the university half way. By coming back to Iran started to teach designing and painting in the conservatories of plastic arts as well as in the universities. Since 1963 his works are displayed in various individual and group exhibitions. Awards • In 1985 he received the medal and honorary diploma of the World Contemporary Painters Exhibition in Monaco. • In the summer of 2006 the ceremony of his commemoration was held in the Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum Works Since 1963 he has held 28 individual exhibitions and has participated in 20 group exhibitions. A selection of his 94 works was displayed in June, 27, 2016 in Ariyana Gallery. The exhibition covers the works have been created in 1976.
