Biography

Abdolhossein Nikgohar, university professor, sociologist and translator, was born in 1316 in the city of Talesh. He settled in Rasht in 1322 due to his father’s job and spent his elementary and high school years in the best schools in Rasht. After finishing high school, he was immediately accepted to Tabriz University and was able to receive his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and educational sciences by gaining the first rank. In 1339, he was sent to France for success and gaining the first rank. His companions include Dr. Sirus Sahami and Dr. Abbas Tavassoli. In 1343, he received his doctorate in sociology from the Sorbonne University. After returning from France, he taught sociology at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad for a while and later transferred to the University of Tehran. He participated in the assistantship exam of that university which was held in 1347 and was able to teach as an assistant professor at the University of Tehran from 1348 to 1350. In 1350, due to the conditions of society – the Cultural Revolution – a study opportunity was created and he left for France for the second time to complete his education to be able to serve his country and society.
