Biography

Gholamhossein Nami (was born in 1936) Iranian contemporary Childhood and Education He was born in Qom, one the religious cities in the south of Tehran. He was graduated from the Tehran Fine Arts of Faculty in 1968 and received his post-graduation diploma in 1980 from Wisconsin University, U.S.A. Professional Activities After travelling in Italy and U.S.A. to become familiar with the world modern art, he returned to Iran and along with creating his works, started to teach in various art training centers. Among them one can refer to: • Plastic Art School, 1964-1986 • Alzahra University (the then Girl College), 1968-75 and 1986-1987 • Faculty of Decorative Arts (the present Art University), 1973-77 • Faculty of Architecture and Urbanization of Iran University of Science and Technology (Elm o Sana`t), 1972-1987 • Islamic Azad University, 1975-87 • Niyavaran Cultural Center, 1987-92 He was also the secretary of first International Exhibition of Tehran Contemporary Designing which was held in 1999 and within the years of 1998 to 2001 he was the head of Iran Painters Society. Nami is one of the founders of the Iran Free Group of the Painters and Sculptors which was founded in 1975 and was the member of the board of the founders of the House of Artists. He was the head of 11th Asian Dhaka (Bangladesh) Biennale in 2003. Private Life Gholam Hossein Nami during the years of studying in Fine Arts Faculty became familiar with Tooran Zandieh, painter and this familiarity terminated to marriage and the fruit of this marriage is two offspring.
